Pre Care Instructions
It is extremely important to follow the pre-care instructions. They are intended to limit bleeding and sensitivities during your service. Excessive bleeding during the procedure will dilute and expel the pigment color, leading to poor results.
30 days before your appointment, you must discontinue the following:
-Botox and fillers
-Fruit or milk acids
-Chemical peels
-Laser treatments
-Topical acne medication - Aczone, Retin-A, Prozac (will require a physician's note/clearance, to pause prior to procedure)
-Sun exposure/including tanning beds (must avoid all sun exposure/tanning beds 30 days before and after procedure)
2 weeks prior to your appointment, you must discontinue the following:
-retinol, retinoids, and glycolic acid products, these are ingredients found in skincare/face creams
(avoid brow area post appointment indefinitely, to prevent fading of pigment)
-antibiotics (must be a 14 day window between last dose and your appointment)
7 days before your appointment, you must discontinue the following:
-multivitamins, vitamins c & e, magnesium, turmeric, ginger, fish oils, omega supplements (you may continue with iron supplements)
-avoid getting your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded, tweezed or tinted (the more natural hair growth you have, the better!)
48 hours prior to your appointment, you must discontinue the following:
-anti-inflammatories (Advil, Aspirin, ibuprofen)
-alcoholic beverages
Day of your appointment, you must discontinue the following:
-do not consume caffeine (coffee, tea, Coke, Diet Coke, chocolate, DECAFF)
-do not take the medication Adderall
-do not workout the day of your appointment
*Please arrive to your appointment with freshly washed hair, as you will need to avoid showering for the first 24hrs post appointment. As well, it is important to arrive without any makeup. This allows the artist to see the clients natural skin tone, for the perfect colour match.
To avoid infection and insure the best possible results for your new brows, it is extremely important to follow the post care treatment.
It is normal to experience minimal redness and swelling following your procedure. This will not prevent work or socializing and will subside within a couple of days. As well, the treated area may feel similar to a light sunburn, but minimal discomfort. Tylenol may be used if necessary (not aspirin or ibuprofen).
The first few days of your procedure, your new brows will appear darker, but the pigment will soften and lighten gradually throughout the weeks as it settles into the skin. Once the skin starts to heal, scabs will form over to protect the area while healing. Do not pick or scratch at the dry skin and flakiness; let the skin fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring and premature loss of pigment (the balm will help with the flaking and itchy feeling). Eventually, the scar tissue that has covered the pigment of the strokes will heal, slowly revealing the pigment and the strokes.
Wash (Days 1-4)
-
Always make sure to cleanse hands thoroughly before touching your eyebrows.
-
After the procedure, gently blot the treated area with a clean cotton swab, for the first hour to remove the lymph fluid. Do this till the oozing has stopped, to prevent hardening of the lymph.
-
Gently wash the area in the morning when you wake up and at night before bed with water and gentle soap. With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently wash the area for 10 seconds. Rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away.
-
To dry, by gently pat with a clean tissue (must completely dry the treated area, before next step).
-
Apply a tiny, rice grain amount of balm with a q-tip and spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The product should be barely noticeable on the skin.
Cleansing once in the morning and evening is important to remove bacteria, build up of product, oils, and dead skin. This does not remove the pigment!
First 7 days:
Avoid exercise (no gym/no sweating)
First 10 days:
Avoid makeup on or around the eyebrow area
Avoid sleeping on your face (use a clean pillowcase for sleeping)
Avoid water on eyebrows (unless following the cleansing instructions above)
Avoid long, hot showers (no steam)
First 4 weeks:
Avoid facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion
Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure (wear a hat outdoors)
DO NOT rub, pick or scratch at the dry skin and flakiness; let the skin fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring and loss of pigment.
Important Instructions for Showering
-
Limit your showers to 5 minutes so that you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair by leaning back under the showerhead.
